Curtis Dean Tackett

Franklin Furnace-Curtis Dean Tackett- 73, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. Curtis was born December 29, 1944 in Wheelwright, Floyd County KY to the late Chester and Okla Mullins Tackett. He was retired as a welder from Armco Steel and also worked in maintenance for Green Township. Curtis has been a member of Green Township Fire and Rescue since 1969 and served as coordinator from 1995-2012 and he attended Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. In addition to his parents Curtis was preceded in death by a brother, Dannie Tackett and a sister, Betty Martin. Curtis is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Ramsey Tackett, whom he married March 1, 1968 in South Webster, Ohio. Also surviving are two sons, Matt (Bev) Tackett and Brad (Trena) Tackett and six grandchildren Brady Tackett, Erik Ashley, Chris Richmond, Nevaeh Richmond, Kieghly Kilgallon and Slade Richmond.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Dr. Denny Hankins officiating. Interment will follow in South Webster Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Dickey Post #23, American Legion. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, from 10:00 am until the 1:00 pm service hour.
