Thomas Montavon
WHEELERSBURG-Thomas Montavon, 71 of Wheelersburg Ohio, passed away in his home on Tuesday, October 12th 2021.
He was born on July 21st, 1950 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Robert Francis Montavon and Rose Mary Thieken Montavon and was the second of nine siblings. He graduated from East Portsmouth High School in 1968, and went on to serve two years in the U.S. Army Reserve while earning an associate’s degree from Tennessee Auto Diesel College. He married Virginia Lee Logan Montavon in 1972 and spent his career working at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant as a maintenance mechanic. After his first retirement, he went back to work in shipping and receiving at Wastern Energyx Mission Support.
He is survived by his wife Virginia, son Timothy (Donna), two grandsons Robert and Luke, two brothers Jim (Donna) and Gary (Vicki), and six sisters Mary (Bill) Beaumont, Betty (Terry) Fannin, Jane (Jack) Stephenson, Donna Jenkins, Joyce (Eric) Braunlin, and Christine (Joe) Kirby. He was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, where he was an active member of the Men’s Club. He was an avid gardener and fisherman, loved the outdoors, enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and was a member of the USW Union.
Visitation for friends of Thomas will be held at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, Ohio at 9:30-10:30 A.M on Monday, October 18, 2021. The family will then attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, with Father Brian Beal officiating and internment in St. Peter’s Cemetery with graveside Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
