Stephen Jay Sexton

WHEELERSBURG-Stephen Jay Sexton, 66, of Wheelersburg passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at SOMC in Portsmouth. Stephen was born February 1, 1956 in Portsmouth to the late Marvin Sexton and Alma Mae Bazler Sexton. Stephen graduated from Ironton High School and was a proud supporter of the community. He has a Master’s Degree and was employed as a Civil Engineer for American Electric Power. He was also commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. Stephen loved music and was a member of the Million Dollar Marching Band; he was selected as a member of the All-Ohio Youth Choir in 1973; he loved art and painting, loved being at the beach and spending time with family; Stephen was a squad member with Porter Township. In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by a sister, Barb Evans. Stephen is survived by three sons, Aaron (Ashley) Sexton, Matthew Sexton and Mike Hughes; three daughters, Rebecca (Ben) Gentile, Jessie (Josh) Leesburg and Katie (Devin) Miller; a brother, Wayne Sexton and fifteen grandchildren, ten grandsons and five granddaughters.

Services for Stephen will be 7:00 pm Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.
