Richard James Frantz
WHEELERSBURG-Richard James Frantz, 86, of Wheelersburg, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at KDMC in Ashland, KY. Richard was born September 28, 1936 in Portsmouth, OH to the late William Charles Frantz and Kathryn Marie Powell Frantz. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church and he was employed at the former Detroit Steel Corporation in the Open-Hearth Department. Richard is survived by his wife, Jenelda McCain Frantz, whom he married February 15, 1958 in Portsmouth. He is also survived by three sons, Richard James (Ann) Frantz, Jr., William “Bill” (Robin) Frantz and David (Lisa) Frantz; a daughter, Kim (Mike) Russell; two brothers, Bob Frantz and Jerry Frantz; four sisters, Janet Ferrell, Joan Kanner, Lynda Beebe and Jackie Albrecht; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 am Friday, March 10, 2023 at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church with Fr. Glockner officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Contributions be made in Richard’s name to St. Peter’s Ladies Guild or Clair’s Closet.
