Jacquelyn S. (Harris) Martin

WHEELERSBURG- Jacquelyn S. (Harris) Martin 1943-2023

Jacquelyn (Harris) Martin, 79 of Wheelersburg passed away on Monday, May 29 at Randall Residence of Wheelersburg. She was born on July 19, 1943 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Jack “Shine” Harris and Maxine (Gilmore) Harris. On May 8, 1965, she was married to Myron E. Martin for 30 years until his death in 1995.

She is survived by her daughter Lori (Tom) Suter of Wheelersburg and her son David (Renu) Martin of Chesapeake Va., three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the following: sister Roberta Harris of Hilton Head, South Carolina, sister Debra (Roger) Calendine and their children of Venore,Tennessee, brother Daniel (Sherry) Harris and their children of Duncan Falls, Ohio , and Brother-in-law Dana (Rochelle) Martin of Zanesville, Ohio and their children.

Jackie graduated from Philo High School and then Bethesda School of Nursing where she received her RN. She worked as a dedicated head nurse for 10 years before going back to school at Ohio University for her Bachelors of Education. For the next 25 years she worked tirelessly and loved hundreds of students at Wheelersburg Elementary where she was a beloved teacher for 4th and 5th graders. She was a long-time member of Wheelersburg United Methodist church.

Jackie’s family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the entire staff of Randall Residence of Wheelersburg and SOMC Hospice for their loving care of Jackie for the 5 years that she resided there. They would also like to thank Francelle McGlone for her loving care in Jackie’s final days.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 at Harrison/Pyles Funeral Home on Friday, June 2 in Wheelersburg, Ohio.

Lori,Tom,David,Renu, Please accept my sincere condolences. I so enjoyed my time teaching with her at the 'Burg. She was an amazing teacher and friend. Rest in peace my friend. May God grant your family peace that passes all understanding during this difficult time.
