Glen David Waldis
ROANOKE, VA-Glen David Waldis, 78, of Roanoke, VA formerly of Wheelersburg, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Glen was born January 25, 1945 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Sylvester Edward Waldis and Elizabeth Ann Smith Waldis Yinger. Glen was a graduate of Wheelersburg High School, Class of 1963. Glen was a proud Veteran of the Marines and U. S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War era. After his time in the service, he worked for the U. S. Government as an IT Specialist for the IRS. Glen was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, American Legion, Father Lynch Division of Ancient Order of Hibernians, K of C past Grand Knight, Past Faithful Navigator, Virginia State Council and “Father Baden Scholarship Fund.” In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a half sister, Mary Katherine Rouna; a sister, Loris Llewellyn Smith and his step father, Earl Albert Yinger. Glen is survived by a sister, Linda Sue Waldis Lecollier and a cousin, Beth Madden.
Services for Glen will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 28, 2023 at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg 5:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, September 27, 2023 with Recital of the Rosary at 7:30 pm.
