James Glendon Hedrick

WHEELERSBURG-James Glendon Hedrick, 73, of Wheelersburg passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 at SOMC ER in Portsmouth, Ohio. James was born July 7, 1950 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Elmer Clarence Hedrick and Helen Louise White Hedrick. From the age of 16, Jim started as a disc jockey and went on to be instrumental in engineering many local radio stations. Jim was a very skilled musician and was a member of and enjoyed performing with the gospel group Joyful Noise. Jim retired from AK Steel and belonged to the Steelworker’s Union. Jim was of the Christian faith and attended Bloom Freewill Baptist Church. Jim is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Judy Gullett Hedrick; two sons, Christopher (Tiffany) Hedrick and Jason (Amanda) Hedrick; a daughter, Cammy (Kelly) Himes; nine grandchildren, Kaylee, Stephanie, Alex, McKenzie, Emilee, Giuliana, Brylinn, Cole and Dalton; eleven great grandchildren, Bristol, Kendall, Paisley, Mason, Colt, Jase, Rowyn, Hadlee, Archer, Oakley and Knox.

Services for James will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Bloom Freewill Baptist Church with Roger Lavender officiating. Interment will be in South Webster Cemetery. Visitation for James will be 5:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg and one hour before the 2:00 pm service at the church on Wednesday. The family requests memorial donations be made in James’s name to Bloom Freewill Baptist Church, St. Rt. 140. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
