FRANKLIN FURNACE-Shelby Jean Sloas, 86, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at KDMC in Ashland, KY. Shelby was born August 9, 1937 in Portsmouth to the late Odell and Beulah Day Purdy. For many years, Shelby worked for Green Local Schools as a bus driver and she was cherished by the entire community. She is of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her husband, John, November 30, 2002 whom she married December 17, 1955 in New Boston; son, Rick and brothers, Larry and Gary Purdy. Shelby is survived by her son, Michael Sloas (Chari); four grandchildren, Brooke Fraley (Jacob), Beth Cunningham, Cody Sloas (Charity) and Hannah Wright (Kevin). Shelby had ten great grandchildren as well. Shelby will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.

Graveside services for Shelby will be 11:00 am Monday July 29, 2024 at Junior Furnace Cemetery with Pastor Andy Ramey officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
