PORTSMOUTH-Gary David Messer,78, of Portsmouth passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at his home. Gary was born July 10, 1945 in Troy, OH to the late Everett and Ruth Alice Weaver Messer. Gary was an Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War Era. He had an Associate degree in Business Administration and worked at AK Steel in the Quality Control Acid Regeneration Department. He was a member of Little Sandy Baptist Church in Greenup, KY. Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Imogene “Peach” Bussler Messer whom he married August 8, 1970 in South Webster. He is also survived by his sons, Brian (Vonda) Holbrook, Jason (Allyson) Messer and Daren (Angela) Messer; his daughters, Beth Ann (Shawn) Richardson and Lindsay (Scott) Johnson; a brother, Neil (Beth) Messer; a sister, Monna Hester; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Services for Gary will be 11:00 am Friday, April 26, 2024 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Tim Wright officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, and one hour before the 11:00 am service on Friday. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
