Herbert R. BrownHerbert R. Brown

MINFORD-Herb Brown, 91, of Minford, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at SOMC Hospice Center. Herb was born September 26, 1932 to Charles and Dona Brown. He was an Air Force veteran, and an employee at Empire Detroit Steel for 22 years, working in several different areas. Herb married the love of his life, Nancy, May 27, 1961, at Porter Freewill Baptist Church. They shared over 61 years together until her passing April 18, 2023. They have two sons and their wives, Jeff and Kim Brown of Oak Hill, and Dave and Sue Ann Brown of Otway, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Herb was a member of Berean Baptist Church, where he had been a Deacon, an usher, and enjoyed working at the Ladies Conference as a Humble Helper. He was always ready to help anyone at any time. He loved the Lord and loved his church. When mom and dad could not attend in person due to their health issues, they would watch the service online at home. They loved to travel, going to Amish country several times a year, or taking vacations with his brother and sister-in-law, George and Bertha. Always busy, dad loved being outside and keeping busy. He loved to raise a garden, tend to his fruit trees, flowers and his grapes. He loved to spend time with his family, and you would always hear someone telling a story of their hunting or fishing trips and all the pranks that they would pull on each other. Of course, there were always stories of dad’s love of Twinkies and Little Debbie’s.

Services for Herb will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Ryan Brown officiating. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home Monday, July 1, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Rites by James Dickey Post #23. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to SOMC Hospice Center.
