WHEELERSBURG-Beatrice “Mawmaw Bea” Bates, 85, of Wheelersburg passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Concord Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Beatrice was born July 28, 1938 in Lyra, Ohio to the late Heber Burke and Evelyn Jones Burke. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in his scrape business. She was a graduate of South Webster High School class of 1956. She was a devout Christian for many years and loved to help people. She attended services at Concord N.H. every Sunday for the last 3 years. She loved her kids and grandkids and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Bates, February 11, 2014, whom she married March 28, 1956 in Wheelersburg. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Burke, grandmother, Bertha Jones and grandfather, Earl Jones. Beatrice is survived by a son, Wyatt (Pat) Bates; a daughter, Cindy (Greg) Vetter; five grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Billy) Boggs, Lisa Bates, Zach (Sheila) Bates, Justin (Samantha) Vetter and Jeremy Vetter; seven great grandchildren, Alex Montavon, Zacayla Bates, Kaylee & Peyton Arthur, Laekyn & Ava Vetter and Grayson Adkins. She had many nieces and nephews.

Private, family only, services will be at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, Sunday, July 21, 2024 with interment in Vernon Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
